XCAR labels the Audi S1 as hyperhatch

XCAR has published a review video of the three-door Audi S1 which they describe as being the first hyperhatch in the world. Embodying the pure definition of a pocket rocket, Audi’s mental S1 has all the ingredients to be labeled as a “hyperhatch” according to the XCAR review. It might not be as crazy (in a good way) as the limited edition A1 quattro but Audi has managed to create a very desirable car for those who want power in a small package.

This is far from being your ordinary hot hatch as the Audi S1 needs a mere 5.8 seconds until 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standstill and it will keep on going until hitting a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). It’s all possible thanks to a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine developing an impressive 231 PS (170 kW) and a maximum torque of 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) delivered to a quattro all-wheel drive system.

The Audi S1 is available both as a three-door and as a five-door Sportback with standard 17-inch rims or optional 18-inch alloys. Other goodies on the menu include xenon plus headlights with LED taillights, sport seats or optional S sport seats, 310mm front disc brakes and a four exhaust pipe arrangement.
