Independent artist Theophilus Chin has decided to elaborate a potential Audi A5 Sportback competitor from Mercedes-Benz.
It’s a known fact that automakers are keeping a close eye on what other competitors are doing and while some are playing catch up, others are leading the way. BMW has the 4-Series Gran Coupe while Audi sells the A5 Sportback, but what about Mercedes-Benz? They don’t have a direct competitor at this point as the CLA is way smaller while the CLS is bigger, so it would make perfect sense for the Daimler-owned marque to snug in a new five-door coupe between the two.

This is what Theophilus Chin imagined, a five-door coupe with the three-pointed star logo envisioned to compete directly with the 4-Series GC and the A5 Sportback. He used as foundation the latest C-Class Sedan which he converted into a five-door coupe, a model that’s actually believed to be in the works at Mercedes-Benz’s headquarters and could come out within the next 2-3 years if the rumors turn out to be valid.

This new C-Class derivative certainly makes sense from a business point of view and we are sure Mercedes-Benz wants a piece of the action in this segment where the BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe and the Audi A5 Sportback are the top players.
