2015 was a pretty good year for Audi, with several new debuts and concepts that point toward a great future for the Ingolstadt-based brand. We saw the debut of the new B9 Audi A4, the second-generation Audi Q7, the third-generation Audi TT and the Audi e-tron Quattro concept, among others. Overall, 2015 was a very important year for Audi. But 2016 is looking to be a very good year as well, maybe an even better one. So let’s take a look at what the New Year may bring for the four-ringed brand.
In the US, we have the upcoming B9 A4, a car that’s been out in Europe for a bit already, which should be incredibly important for Audi. The A4 is Audi’s best-selling car and the US market is one of its largest, so you can only imagine how important the A4 is to the US. When it finally debuts, Audi will gain a huge boost on this side of the Atlantic.
The Audi Q7 will also be making its US debut this coming year, which should also bring a massive sales boost. The Q7 is an incredibly popular model among US buyers, as the US is extremely SUV-happy. Big, seven-seater SUVs are some of the most popular vehicles to be sold in the ‘States, so the second-generation Audi Q7 will be a massive hit.
We should also be seeing at least some early information about the upcoming Audi A5. The next A5 should be debuting in 2017, but we should be getting some information about what it will look like, what kind of powertrains will be offered and how much it will cost this coming year. We might even see the final production car at some auto shows later on in the year.
The 2018 Audi A8 might even be teased a bit this year. Audi is going to have to give us some info about what the next A8 will be like, as both Mercedes-Benz and BMW are doing some fantastic stuff with their new S Class and 7 Series, respectively. Even Cadillac is coming out with its CT6 to compete in the segment. So the current A8 is currently the old dog in that fight, meaning that Audi needs to at least give us a hint at what’s coming to stay relevant in the segment.
But the big news is the Audi e-tron Quattro Concept. The electric SUV concept debuted at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show represents a massive leap forward in electric mobility for Audi and could be the most important car in the brand’s near future. Though we won’t see a production version of the e-tron Quattro until at least 2018, we could see what a production version will look like and what it will be called in 2016. This could be the most important car of the year for Audi.
So what car are you most looking forward to from Audi in 2016?
