You’ve got to love XCAR videos, they’re always filled with great cars, excellent production values and great insights from they’re host, Alex Goy. The new Audi R8 V10 Plus has been talked about quite a lot here and if you’ve been to our site before, you’d know we’re big fans of it. However, we will always miss the gated six-speed manual and 4.2 liter V8 of the original. Having said that, the new R8 V10 Plus is better than the car it replaces and Goy is here to prove it.
Of course, being filmed in the UK, it’s raining in the video. Actually, raining is a bit of an understatement. It’s down pouring in the video and the conditions are probably the least ideal to be driving a $200,000 supercar with 600 hp in. However, the R8’s fantastic Quattro system keeps Goy alive, even through a couple of nervous moments, throughout the video.
The seconds-generation Audi R8 V10 shares quite a lot with its Italian cousin, the Lamborghini Huracan. We’ve talked about the Huracan quite a bit lately and it’s an excellent car. But the R8 feels a lot more solid, according to Goy, and is easier to drive quickly. The Huracan feels more special, admittedly, but feels more delicate and dangerous as a result. The Audi R8 V10 allows you to have fun and go bonkers fast without fearing for your life with every prod of the go-pedal.
It also sounds fantastic. We will always miss the burbly rasp of the 4.2 liter V8 from the previous generation R8, but this V10 sounds incredible and could make people buy the R8 over Porsche 911 Turbos alone. There isn’t much more to say about the Audi R8 V10 that we haven’t already said, so just check this video out and enjoy all of the V10 goodness.
