2013 WEC champion and Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen took the brand new 2015 Audi R8 V10 Plus for a quick ride on the track. Through this video we get to find out more technical details concerning the latest supercar from Ingolstadt which shares half of its components with the R8 LMS racecar so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that it’s the quickest Audi production car ever made and for now it will be available exclusively with a naturally aspirated V10 5.2-liter engine.
It comes as standard with a quattro permanent all-wheel drive system featuring variable torque control to provide the best traction possible regardless of speed and road surface. The V8 4.2-liter engine is gone and won’t be offered in the R8 anymore as instead Audi is preparing a turbocharged engine for the supercar which will be installed in an entry-level version set to join the range in the years to come possibly with a V6.
Needless to say, the R8 range will be expanded with the addition of a Spyder variant that will likely be unveiled in the second half of next year with the same V10 engine while the fully electric e-tron variant will likely remain a coupe-only affair.
