The B5-gen Audi S4 is one of the most popular tuning cars among Audi enthusiasts. For good reason, too. Its 2.7 liter Biturbo V6 is one of the most highly tune-able engines Audi’s ever made. From the factory, it made around 260 hp, which isn’t too much. However, give it a coupe of bolt-ons and an ECU tune and the B5 S4 can become a monster. For example, this B5 Audi S4 Avant makes over 1,400 hp.
In this video, this specific TTD-tuned B5 Audi S4 Avant is shown making 1,442 hp. That’s flat-out ridiculous. That’s more than the Bugatti Veyron, Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari. In a little wagon from twenty years ago… Insanity.
Admittedly, this isn’t actually an S4 engine. It uses a modified version of the B5 RS4’s engine but bored out from 2.7 liters to 3.0 liters. So, technically, it’s not a true B5 S4. Still, it’s insane.
At the drag strip, the monster Audi S4 Avant runs a couple of half-mile heats. What’s almost as impressive as it’s shockingly fast speeds, which we’ll get to in a minute, is the fact it’s capable of spinning its tires all the way into third gear. There’s just so much monstrous power that it can overwhelm all four tires in almost any gear, at any speed.
What’s even crazier than that, though, is the speed at which it flies through the half-mile trap. On its fastest run, it clocked almost 305 km/h (190 mph), which is simply insane. To be able to get to 190 mph in just a half mile, with a manual gearbox and road-legal tires is simply remarkable, especially from a 3.0 liter V6. While it’s still not in the territory of something like the Bugatti Chiron or Porsche 911 GT2 RS, it’s still remarkable for a B5-gen Audi S4 Avant that’s over two decades old.
