VIDEO: Lucas di Grassi Teases the Audi e-tron GT

We’re only five days away from the February 9 debut of the Audi e-tron GT, which will be a massive moment for the brand. When it debuts, the e-tron GT will be Audi’s first-ever all-electric performance car and it will be built alongside the Audi R8 at the brand’s Böllinger Höfe facility. In this new video, Audi Formula E driver Lucas di Grassi takes you through the factory where the e-tron GT is built.

Its factory might not seem like an important aspect of the car but it is. Böllinger Höfe is where the Audi R8 is built and it’s where experts meticulously craft each and every car. While most of the production is done via automated assembly line, there’s more production done by hand than you might think. Plus, quality control and tolerances are checked and gauges by hand, to insure perfect quality.

The Audi e-tron GT is easily the most interesting and exciting car to come from Audi since the original R8. With its all-electric powertrain, it will make over 500 horsepower and feature Audi’s electric Quattro all-wheel drive system, so it should have the excitement and capability we’ve come to know from cars like the R8.

There are only a few days left before we finally see the Audi e-tron GT and we cannot wait. It’s going to be a make or break car for Audi, as its success will bolster the brand’s electric future but its failure could be a huge blow for a brand trying to compete with Tesla.

However, the e-tron GT has the potential to be the next Audi R8 for the brand, meaning it can be the new flagship car that gets customers excited about being part of the brand. The idea is that customers will see the e-tron GT in showrooms and buy something cheaper that they can afford, simply so they can be apart of the brand that makes the stunning, all-electric e-tron GT.

I've been in love with cars since I was a kid, specifically German cars. Now I get to drive them talk about them on the internet.
