The Audi Q5 has always been one of the brand’s most popular cars. It’s perennially one of Audi’s best sellers, even now as it’s getting a bit long in the tooth. However, for the 2021 model year, the Q5 has received a facelift, which brings about new front end styling and some interior updates. Still, even with those updates, the Q5 is older than the rest of its competitors. So is the newly facelifted Audi Q5 still worth the money?
In this new video, we see Joe Achilles drive the Audi Q5 for the first time and get to see his live impressions.
The first thing we see in this video is just how spacious the Q5 is. Achilles is tall, standing 6’4″ (in case any of us forgot) and yet he can perfectly sit behind himself in the back seat. Sure, his head is almost touching the headliner but he’s quite tall and he has more than enough room elsewhere. Plus, the panoramic sunroof makes the headroom feel more spacious.
In terms of driving dynamics, the Audi Q5 Facelift is more of the same for the Q5 family. So it has safe, predictable handling. It’s luxurious, comfortable, easy to drive and high-tech. An Alfa Romeo Stelvio the Q5 is not. Still, that’s what customers want and expect out of an Audi Q5.
Though, enthusiasts will want more, as the Q5’s steering is numb and its diesel engine (in this case) is a bit dull. Also, its seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, as sharp as its shifts are, is a bit frustrating, as it upshifts on its own even in manual mode. So if you want to have fun in your SUV, you might want to look elsewhere.
However, if what you want is a quiet, comfortable, high-tech and good looking SUV, the Audi Q5 is a solid choice.
