We don’t get many of Audi Sport’s finest models here in the U.S. It’s sort of always been that way and we’re kind of used to it now. However, we do get some and one of them is the Audi RS5 Coupe, one of the most exciting cars in Audi’s lineup. In this new video from CNET’s Roadshow, we get to check out five you should know about the RS5.
Now, we’re not going to spoil all five, as you should watch the video, but we will give you a teaser. For starters, the Audi RS5 Coupe uses a 2.9 liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, which is shared with Porsche and is going to be used on several new models from both brands. This new twin-turbo V6 makes 444 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. While that might not sound like too much, considering the three year-older BMW M4 Competition Package makes the same horsepower, it’s still capable of getting the RS5 to 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds, depending on who’s launching it.
One thing that Roadshow mentions is actually a bit of a fault for the Audi RS5 Coupe. Rather than being the hardcore, iron fist of a car that the old RS5 was, this new car is far more refined, far more luxurious. So it’s relatively quiet and comfortable on the inside. It’s no Audi A8, of course, but it’s not as raucous as you’d expect a car wearing an ‘RS’ badge to be. And that disappoints a lot of enthusiasts.
Still, the Audi RS5 Coupe is a dynamite performance coupe, with tons of power, a great interior and kick-ass looks. And if the Coupe doesn’t tickle your fancy, there’s a four-door Audi RS5 Sportback with a liftback tailgate that might interest you even more and that we think makes more sense, given the new RS5’s more comfortable nature.
