Audi just recently debuted its new, second-generation Q5 at the 2016 Paris Motor Show just last week. Being that the first-gen Audi Q5 was one of Audi’s best-selling models worldwide, it’s only natural that we’re excited about the second-gen. Which makes us very jealous of Driving.ca, who recently got to spend some time with the new Audi Q5 in Los Cabos, Mexico for its press launch.
In the video, we get a great look at the new Q5 up close and personal. We also get to see it in action, which is where you can really tell how it looks. Away from the staged lights of an auto show and out under the Mexican sun, the new Audi Q5 looks…well, not that much different from the old car. However, its face is now much more modern, wearing crisper headlights and the four-ringed brand’s new Singleframe grille. On the move, though, it is a much better looking vehicle overall than its predecessor. The shoulder line is now far more dramatic than the slab-sided first-gen Q5’s and it catches the sunlight quite nicely.
Inside, the new Audi Q5 looks like a mashup between the new Q7 and A4, though it leans more toward the latter. That’s no bad thing, though, as it’s a fantastic cabin that not only looks great but has superb economics and upscale build quality.
Packing Audi’s new 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder TFSI engine, the new Audi Q5 makes 252 hp and can get from 0-60 mph in around seven seconds. That’s what Audi claims, but we’re expecting it to be quicker than that, considering the Audi A4 does it in the low five’s.
Overall, the new Audi Q5 seems to be a big step up over its predecessor despite it not looking all that different. We’re excited to give it a go in the future. You can see the video here.
