VIDEO: Doug DeMuro Checks Out the Audi RS6 Avant

Aside from the upcoming Audi e-tron GT, there’s like no other car we’re more excited about than the Audi RS6 Avant. For North American Audi enthusiasts, just the idea that there will be US-spec RS6 Avants driving around on the road makes us happy, even if most of us won’t be able to get one. In fact, most car enthusiasts in general are thrilled about the new North American inclusion of the RS6 Avant, as evidenced by Doug DeMuro’s giddy excitement in this new video.

In his usual style, DeMuro walks us through the Audi RS6 Avant and some of its interesting new features. While there really aren’t a lot of features on the RS6 that you won’t find on a standard A6, there are still some interesting new bits. For instance, its new laser lights look fantastic and do a fun little dance when you start the car. Also, the shockingly high quality of the cabin causes DeMuro to claim it better than a Bentley he’d recently driven.

Under the hood of the Audi RS6 Avant is a 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. It can get from 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds while also having the ability to five a family and a dog in the back. Admittedly, 3.6 seconds isn’t too fast anymore, with BMW M5s and Mercedes-AMG E63s running 2.8 second 0-60 mph times, the RS6 Avant isn’t just a performance car, it’s a performance family car, as DeMuro points out.

We can’t wait to drive the Audi RS6 Avant. Everything about it; from its looks to its performance to its handling; make it just about the perfect daily sports car for most Audi enthusiasts. Throw in the fact that you can toss a refrigerator in the trunk and it becomes perfect. If I could afford one, I’d have already bought it.
