The Audi RS6 Avant is a seriously fast car. Its stonking 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 makes 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque and catapults the RS6 from 0-60 mph in around three and a half seconds. That’s more than fast enough for most enthusiasts and no RS6 owner is going to complain about a lack of performance. However, there are plenty of cars that would likely destroy an RS6 in a straight line and two of them come from Audi’s VW Group cousin– Porsche.
In this new drag race video, we get to see the Audi RS6 Avant take on two Porsches that no RS6 owner wants to meet at a red light — the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the Porsche Taycan Turbo S. Did I say that no RS6 owner wants to see those Porsches at a red light? What I meant to say was that no other car owner in the world wants to see either of those two cars at a stop light. They’re just that fast.
The slower of the three two Porsches is somehow the Taycan Turbo S, which makes 750 horsepower and 774 lb-ft of torque from its dual electric motors and two-speed transmission. While the Porsche 911 Turbo S is somehow quicker, despite only having 640 horsepower and 590 lb-ft.
It’s not hard to imagine which car was fastest in this test. The Audi RS6 Avant was easily the slowest; launching off the line slower than the other two and staying far behind both. What was surprising, though, was that the Porsche 911 Turbo S, after scrambling for traction a bit off the line, absolutely smoked the Taycan Turbo S. The new 911 Turbo S is so shockingly fast, it’s almost upsetting. The fact that anyone with money can buy a 911 Turbo S, even if they have no experience driving fast cars, is somewhat terrifying. I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of totaled Turbo S’ in the near future.
Still, it’s astonishingly impressive and the result of this test was no surprise at all. The RS6 is fast in the real world but the 911 Turbo S is fast even in the world of sci-fi spaceships.
