VIDEO: Check out the new Audi S8 with Rory Reid — Best Car in the World?

The all-new Audi S8 is here and it’s a seriously impressive car. We loved the car it’s based on, the Audi A8 sedan, so we can only imagine that the S8 is even better. But is it the best car in the world? Hell, is it even the best luxury sedan in the world? Rory Reid seems to think it’s at least the latter and possibly the former, too.

In this new video review from Auto Trader, Reid breaks down all of the reasons why he thinks the new Audi S8 is so incredible. And it all starts with its ride.

The Audi S8 features the brand’s electro-mechanical suspension setup that can read the road ahead, using cameras and sensors, and automatically adjust ahead of time. To be honest, that sort of feature isn’t entirely new, nor is it exclusive to the S8. However, the way it goes about doing it is exclusive. It actually uses small electric motors, essentially, to lift the suspension up before it goes over bumps, effectively jumping over them. Reid displays how well this works by placing a full cup of water and the dash and driving over speed bumps, first with the system disengaged and then with it engaged. The difference is vast.

Then, the former Top Gear host talks about just how quiet it is and how far Audi has gone to make the S8 eerily silent inside. We noticed even the regular A8 was incredibly quiet on the inside, so we can only imagine the Audi S8 is even better.

More important than all of that, though, is the fact that the Audi S8 is fantastic to drive. Its monster 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 makes 563 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, so it’s seriously quick. It also uses that trick suspension to help it corner better, predicatively leaning into corners and keeping the body nice and flat.

Overall, there’s no doubt that the new Audi S8 is an incredibly impressive machine. Is it the best car in the world? Probably not, to be honest. However, there’s certainly an argument to be made for it being the best performance luxury sedan on the market.
