The Audi stand at the 2019 LA Auto Show was an impressive one, with five North American debuts. Among them was the all-new Audi e-tron Sportback, which was likely the most important. As the second all-electric Audi to hit the market, the sportier e-tron twin is going to offer customers an electric vehicle with another, more stylish body shape. Which is important for brand awareness.
In this new video from Carfection, we get to check the Audi e-tron Sportback up close and personal and see a lot of its new features. For instance, its all-new Matrix LED headlights can project images in light — or light up certain aspects of the road ahead — are very impressive. It also has quite a few features that help increase battery efficiency, such as a long, larger heat pump to help cool the battery, rather than the two small ones on the standard e-tron.
Under the skin, though, the e-tron Sportback is essentially the same as its more standard sibling. The only major mechanical difference is the fact that the Sportback uses more of its battery capacity, so it gets a bit more range. No figures have been released yet but, according to an Audi rep, the brand is shooting for around 220 miles of range.
The biggest change from the standard e-tron to the e-tron Sportback is its styling. The regular car, which we drove awhile back, isn’t the most thrilling looking of SUVs. Admittedly, it’s not supposed to be, as it’s supposed to look like a normal SUV. However, the Sportback adds some style that could attract customers from their regular SUVs.
On the inside, it’s also about the same as the standard e-tron. However the e-tron Sportback comes with a cool blue interior option on first edition models, seen at the LA Auto Show.
