Much like all journalists, we were present at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show, to see all of the fantastic cars that were on display. There were some superb non-Audi debuts in Detroit, including the BMW X2, Volkswagen Jetta and Mustang Bullitt. However, our main focus was on the Audi stand and there were some of our favorite cars there, including the brand-new Audi A7, Audi A8 and the Audi R8 V10 Spyder. Here are some videos of the cars we saw in Detroit.
The first-generation Audi A7 was a real showstopper. It looked unlike anything else on the road and became an instant hit with both customers and enthusiasts alike. Even today, all these years later, it still looks great and still turns heads. So when we learned that Audi was making a second-generation A7, we were a bit skeptical that it would be able to recapture the same magic of the first-gen. Turns out, though, that our skepticism was unfounded, as the new Audi A7 looks great.
This new Audi A8 needs to be really, really good. It’s that simple. All of its competition, namely the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series, is superb and sells really quite well. So the new Audi A8 needs to be a homerun if the folks in Ingolstadt want their flagship to have even a small chance at success. Thankfully, the new A8 looks quite promising.
Audi R8 V10 Spyder
There’s rumor spreading that this current generation of Audi R8 will also be the last. For Audi enthusiasts, this is unbelievably depressing news. Not only is the Audi R8 the most exciting, most dynamic and most seductive car in Audi’s lineup, it also has some sentimental value. Now, the current-gen R8 is a stunning machine, one that thrills more than any other Audi product. And that’s never been more true than with this Audi R8 V10 Spyder
Audi TT RS
The Audi TT RS is one of the most exciting cars to wear four rings on its hood. With baby-R8 styling and a 2.5 liter turbocharged I5 engine, the TT RS is an incredible sports car. It also makes one of the absolute best noises of any car on the market. The TT RS is worth driving for its engine and exhaust noise alone.
