It’s been a big day at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. There have been several new and exciting debuts, such as the BMW M8 Gran Coupe Concept and the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe. However, Audi has had an equally big day in Geneva, launching two new vehicles, both of which will be incredibly important for the brand moving forward.
At Audi’s press conference, they showed off those two new cars. One of them was the brand-new Audi A6, the brand’s most important executive car. While not as high-volume as its smaller A4 sibling, the A6 is still one of Audi’s best selling cars. It’s also the car that competes in one of the most highly competitive luxury car segments in the industry, one that includes such giants as the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Volvo S90. So the Audi A6 needs to be great and, at least from what we’ve seen at the auto show, it looks like it will be.
The other car shown off in Geneva was the Audi e-tron Prototype. We knew that e-tron Prototypes would be roaming the streets of Geneva ahead of, and during, the auto show, but it was nice to see it up on the stage. The Audi e-tron is even more important than the A6, as it’s the first-ever all-electric car from Audi and it will finally put the brand in contention with its premium competitors. BMW, Tesla and Mercedes-Benz all have pure electric cars on offer to customers but this will be Audi’s first. So the four-ringed brand will finally be at the party.
