Since it debuted, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio has been one of the most exiting cars on the road and one of the most popular among journalists. It’s also been winning competitions against the BMW M3 and Mercedes-AMG C63 left and right. However, not a lot has been said about the standard car, the non-Quadrifoglio version. That’s a damn fine car as well but is it good enough to take on the standard Audi A4? Carwow finds out in this latest video.
In terms of exterior looks, it’s really a tale of two completely different ideologies. The Audi A4 is a smart and sharp looking car, with sharp angles and sleek creases. It’s all very sciency and techy looking. However, the Alfa Romeo Giulia is just pretty. It’s curvy and seductive looking and is by far the prettier car of the two. The Audi A4 is a car whose looks you appreciate but the Giulia is one whose looks that you love.
On the inside, though, things change. The Giulia’s cabin is good enough but it’s not great. The layout isn’t very smart and its materials are lacking a bit. There’s also just a lot of grey and black plastic, making it feel bland. On the other hand, the A4’s cabin is incredibly, with superb materials, a brilliant layout and attractive design. The A4 is far better in the backseat and in the trunk as well, where it has the most space in both.
When it comes to driving, the Giulia is the more exciting car. Its steering is sharp and accurate with really quick responses. It feels the most sports car like by far. However, its ride is rough and firm, admittedly to give that sporty feel, but it can grow tiresome after awhile. In the Audi A4, the steering is good but less dynamic than the Giulia’s. It’s still a fun car to chuck around but it’s just not the absolute sports car that the Giulia is. It is far easier to travel in, though, with a much more supple ride and is far quieter.
In the end, Mat Watson claims that while the Alfa Romeo Giulia is a great car, one that looks fantastic and is very fun to drive, the Audi A4 is just better all around and still almost as fun to drive. So the A4 is the winner here.
