VIDEO: Carwow drives the Audi R8 V10 Plus

Mat Watson’s new car reviewing YouTube channel, Carwow, is more tuned to doing sensible car reviews of cars that normal people can actually buy. Which is very practical and useful for the everyday customer. But this time, Watson gets a bit crazy and has decided to review the monstrous Audi R8 V10 Plus.

The current Audi R8 V10 Plus develops 610 hp from its 5.2 liter, Lamborghini-derived V10 and sends all of that fury to all four wheels through a seven-speed S-Tronic dual-clutch gearbox. Sounds sensible, right? Well, actually, by supercar standards it kind of is.

Typically, supercars are incredibly powerful, incredibly fast, look great and are extremely fun to drive. And while the Audi R8 meets all of those supercar requirements, it actually has another attribute that other supercars don’t — it’s actually livable to drive everyday.

The Audi R8 is actually quite comfortable to drive. While it isn’t exactly and Audi A8, it’s far more comfortable than most supercars and doesn’t crash over bumps like most. It also has a lovely interior and very comfortable seats. The infotainment system is brilliant, thanks to it being an Audi, and it has the latest Virtual Cockpit digital gauge cluster. It can also stop shouting and be a quite cruiser when you want it to.

But that’s not what you buy an Audi R8 for. You buy an R8 to get from 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds and slide around corners, which is exactly what Watson does in this video. The wonderful thing about the R8 is that it allows you to have fun easily, without having to be a pro and without killing yourself. It’s a friendly supercar with approachable performance.

So if you’re in the market for a supercar (if you are, we should be friends), then the Audi R8 V10 Plus is probably the most sensible car to get. After all, it is an Audi.
