Audi recently updated its A3 with a pretty comprehensive refresh that improves the entire model lineup. Things like new headlights, taillights, suspension and steering, technology and some interior bits have all been improved on the new post-refresh Audi A3. Those improvements make their way to all model variants, such as the sedan, hatchback and Sportback.
In this recent review from Carwow, we take a look at the post-refresh Audi A3 Sportback. The model Mat Watson drives in this review is the 2.0 liter TDI 150 model, which packs 150 hp and is paired to a six-speed manual. His model also was only front-wheel drive, not the typical Quattro all-wheel drive. However, he claims it to be powerful enough, while also returning excellent fuel economy. It’s also smooth and quiet, providing a much more luxurious driving experience than its Volkswagen Golf counterpart.
It’s also incredibly practical for such a small car. Backseat space is great for two adults, although three might struggle to fit comfortably, and the trunk has an exceptional amount of space. It’s also packed with a ton of useful features, like being able to raise the height of the removable cargo floor, to make the load level easier.
The new technology is also a welcome addition in the Audi A3. For such a reasonably priced hatchback, the A3 is packed with some genuinely impressive tech, giving it the best technology in its class. Its Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Wireless Charging for compatible mobile phones and Audi’s brilliant Virtual Cockpit make the Audi A3 a bonafide tech-leader.
All in all, the Audi A3 Sportback 2.0 TDI 150 is one of the best all-around hatchbacks on the market. It might not be as fun to drive as the BMW 1 Series or maybe even the Volkswagen Golf, but it’s more luxurious than both and comes with much better technology. While it can get a bit pricey, a careful eye on the options list can help mitigate that for buyers. But if you can get an A3 Sportback for a price that you feel comfortable with, you’re going to get the more technologically advanced and one of the nicest driving hatchbacks on the market.
