This C7 model of the Audi RS6 Avant is the current model and it’s also a dying model. This C7-generation Audi A6 is currently on its last legs, with a new model coming next year. So that means we’ll soon be saying goodbye to this current Audi RS6. And that’s a sad thing because this current RS6 could be one of the best RS cars ever made.
On the surface, this C7 Audi RS6 is one of the most aggressive looking RS cars ever. While subdued anger was always Audi’s motto for RS styling, the RS6 seems to be showing more of its anger than any of its other family members. So its front fascia is aggressive, its wheel arches are more muscular and its massive exhaust tips make a simply vulgar, but beautiful, noise. Sure, most drivers would just drive on past it without passing a second glance. But enthusiasts can appreciate that the RS6 it looks like a family wagon but there’s a hint of what lies underneath.
Inside, it’s lined in superb luxury. Quilted leather, contrast stitching and nuclear bunker-grade build quality make it a fantastic place to spend some time. It’s also quiet on the inside, belying the power below. So it makes a great luxury car as well, something capable of chauffeuring the family around in, in both comfort and style. Plus, it’s a wagon, so it has a big trunk.
But under the skin is where things get interesting. Powering the Audi RS6 Avant is a 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. In standard spec, it makes 552 hp but in weapons-grade Performance-spec, it makes 605 hp. That’s simply mental. When paired with its eight-speed automatic and Quattro all-wheel drive, the Audi RS6 Avant is capable of 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds. That time drops to 3.7 seconds with the performance model.
Of all the cars featured in this series of Carfection videos, it seems as if the C7 Audi RS6 Avant might be the best RS Avant ever. While the original Audi RS2 was amazing, the first B5 RS4 Avant started a legacy and the first RS6 has a wonderful V8, this current car could be the best of all worlds.
