If you live in Europe, there may not be a better daily sports car than the Audi RS4 Avant. It’s fast, it’s good looking and it’s practical. It’s not perfect but it’s really hard to beat. In this new video from Carbuyer, we find out why.
The Sonoma Green Audi RS4 Avant in this video is the ultimate example of a sleeper. If you drive along the road in the UK, you’ll probably see 20 green wagons per day. Combine that with the fact that the RS4 isn’t a very aggressive looking car at first glance and it’s likely to disappear into the background. Until you put your foot down, as Ginny Buckley demonstrates.
When she puts her foot down, all 450 horses and 443 lb-ft of torque, from its 2.9 liter twin-turbocharged V6, gets the Audi RS4 Avant from 0-60 mph in a claimed 4.1 seconds. Though, it’s likely to be a bit quicker than that in reality, as Audi is always conservative with its performance figures.
It also handles well. Its steering is very sharp and turn-in is immediate. Though, push it too hard through corners and it will understeer of course, it is a front-heavy Audi after all, but aside from that it’s a very agile and fun sports car. Plus, its Quattro all-wheel drive grip allows it cling to the road like Velcro and its optional rear sport differential helps it power out of corners really nicely.
So it’s a seriously rapid car. One that would blow the doors off of some genuine sports car. Yet, it’s practical, can fit tons of luggage in its large trunk, as a fantastic interior and room for five adults. It also has Quattro all-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox. All of that together makes it quite possibly the best all-around daily-driving sports car on the planet. Unfortunately, we don’t get it here in America, which should be criminal.
