VIDEO: Audi RS6 Avant Races Mercedes-AMG A45 S

The Audi RS6 Avant is a seriously quick car, thanks to its 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 making 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. It can rocket from 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds, making it one of the faster wagons on the market. Which makes this drag race a bit lopsided, as it takes on the Mercedes-AMG A45 S.

Carwow does a lot of oddball drag races and this one is a prime example of that. The Mercedes-AMG A45 S is at a significant disadvantage, due to only having 421 horsepower. However, Carwow’s Mat Watson evens the odds by having the much faster RS6 driven by his girlfriend, who isn’t as experienced with launching cars.

So which car is faster: the much more powerful Audi RS6 Avant driven by a less experienced driver or the Mercedes-AMG A45 S driven by someone who drag races cars seemingly everyday?

As it turns out, the Audi RS6 Avant is significantly faster in every test, regardless of driver experience. To be honest, Watson’s girlfriend is quite good at launching the car and is able to beat Watson in every single test, even the braking test, which is shocking due to the RS6’s much higher curb weight.

Admittedly, the Audi RS6 Avant should win every test. Not only is is much more powerful but it’s also far more expensive. The RS6 Avant, in the UK, is almost double the price of the A45 S. Considering that the AMG isn’t too far behind the RS6, in terms of performance, while also being half the price makes it a great performance value. It’s also a bit more fun and a bit more of a hooligan than the rather sensible and luxurious RS6.
