Now that the aging Audi Q3 is being replaced with a far more modern, far better model, it’s time for new performance variants to come out as well. That means a new Audi RS Q3, a genuine Audi Sport version of the new Q3. And it’s just been caught testing at the famed Nurburgring.
Typically, one wouldn’t expect to see an Audi Q3 at the ‘Ring, as it’s mostly just a suburban shopping mall-cruiser. An Audi RS Q3, however, is very at home on the ‘Ring, as evidenced by this new spy video.
In the video, we see a heavily camouflaged RS Q3 taking on the most difficult race track in the world. While it’s heavily camo’d, we can tell that it’s an Audi RS Q3 and not a lesser, less powerful model. Due to its lowered ride height and massive dual oval exhausts, it’s instantly recognizable as a real-deal ‘RS’ model.
We also get to hear its engine. It sports a burbly, raspy exhaust note, tipping its hand and showing off its 2.5 liter turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine. It’s the same engine as the Audi RS3 and Audi TT RS, meaning it will make a hefty 400 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. Audi hasn’t released any official information just yet but we’re expecting a 0-60 mph time in the low four-second range. While the aforementioned cars that share its engine can do the same spring in less than four seconds, the RS Q3’s extra heft should add a few tenths.
We can’t wait for the Audi RS Q3, as it will be the most exciting and fun car in its class, with more power and a better exhaust note than anything from BMW or Mercedes-Benz in its segment. The best news of all? It could be making its way to the U.S. market.
