We can’t wait to get our hands on the Audi Q4 e-tron but we’re going to have to wait quite a bit longer, as it won’t be coming to the U.S. for a few more months. However, our friends over in the U.K. have had the chance to drive the Q4 e-tron and this new review from Carwow tells us all we need to know.
In this new video, Carwow’s Mat Watson goes over everything; from its exterior design, to its interior design, to the way it drives. So is the Q4 e-tron as good as we hope it is?
Watson seems to like the outside of the Audi Q4 e-tron overall. There are some things he doesn’t like, such as the fake grille and the, admittedly infuriating, rear drum brakes (unacceptable on such an expensive car). However, overall it’s a great looking car and one that’s much better looking than its Volkswagen ID.4 sibling.
He also mostly likes the interior, though there are some frustrating ergonomic bits. For instance, the touch-sensitive steering wheel buttons are annoying and the air vents are placed oddly. Though, overall, the interior is a really nice place to be. Especially in the back seat, where there’s a surprising amount of rear knee and head room.
What’s most important is how it drives. For the most part, it’s a great driving electric crossover. It has more than enough power, even in the Q4 e-tron 40 spec, handles surprisingly well, has nice steering, a comfortable ride, and a quiet cabin. Even better, though, was how efficient it was for Watson during his time with it. He was able to achieve, with only moderately careful driving, 3.5 miles per kWh. That’s quite good for an EV and, when you consider it has a 77 kWh usable battery capacity, that gives it a potential range of around 270 miles. That’s actually really good for its battery size and far better than we expected.
So should you buy the Audi Q4 e-tron or merely consider it, along with the rest of the EV crossovers in the segment? Watson says you should just go ahead and buy one. Although, that’s with the caveat that the Tesla Model Y isn’t available in the U.K., which might be better than the Q4. Here in the ‘States, where the Model Y is available, it might be a trickier choice.
