VIDEO: Audi Q3 teased ahead of Wednesday reveal

We’ve been waiting for a replacement for the aging Audi Q3 for some time now. If you’ve spent some time on this site, you’d know we aren’t huge fans of the current Q3. Its lame-duck handling, subpar performance and severely outdated cabin make it the worst product Audi currently sells in America. However, the folks in Ingolstadt have a new one in the works and it’s shaping up to be quite good. This new Q3 has just been teased by Audi in a new video.

In this video from Audi Media TV, we get to see a glimpse of the new Audi Q3, as it sits, covered in shadows with only flashes of light briefly revealing bits of it. We can see the new headlights, parts of the front bumper, its side mirrors and some sort of colorfully-illuminated Audi logo inside the car.

As we see these brief glimpses of the new Q3, we hear “Out of the dark, into the light”, which is probably the best way to describe the Q3 getting a new model. The old one really is the dark and this new one has the chance to be the light.

The new Audi Q3 will be based on the same MQB platform that underpins the Audi S3. That means it will be lighter than the car it replaces while also sporting more interior and cargo space. So it should handle far better than the current car, as the MQB platform is far better than the old Volkswagen Golf platform that the old Q3 is built on.

It will also look quite a lot better. From spy photos we’ve seen and now this video, the Audi Q3 seems to be boxier, sportier and more premium. It seems to borrow a lot of design elements from the Audi Q5, with similar side mirrors and flared wheel arches. Its headlights are more Audi A3 than they are Q5, though.

The Audi Q3 will officially be revealed this Wednesday, so you only have to wait a couple of days to see it uncovered and out in the open.
