We’re on the brink of the official reveal for the Audi e-tron, the brand’s first pure BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle), which is going to be revealed on September 17. Prior to its reveal, though, Audi has been teasing its e-tron like crazy. This latest teaser comes during a TV spot for the the 2018 Emmys.
In this new commercial, we some text flashing on the screen, that reads “We Did Not Invent the Electric Car”. That’s followed by some short clips of the e-tron driving hard and fast through both sand and snow, showing off Audi’s roots in rally racing. Then, we get more flashing text, reading “We Injected It With the Audi DNA and Unleashed It”.
That’s a pretty awesome tag line, actually. Following that, we see some more clips of the Audi e-tron and, from what we can see, it looks pretty good.
We then get some more flashing text, “Electric Has Gone Intelligent, Connected, Quattro” and then finally “Electric Has Gone Audi”. So the four-ringed brand is pushing the fact that this is going to be an electric car with an Audi twist.
This is actually smart marketing, it seems. The Audi e-tron is shaping up to be a good car but, on paper at least, it doesn’t have the specs to compete with the Tesla Model X, aside from maybe price (although we don’t know pricing for the Audi e-tron just yet). So Audi needs to sell this car with the idea that it drives better, with more excitement, than any other electric SUV and that it has that some Audi DNA.
It’s a cool ad, too, one that should get the attention of a lot of fans, customers and enthusiasts. September 17 is almost here and we’ll be showing it to you for real in just a few short days.
