This new generation of Audi A8 has received a bit of a mixed bag from the media. While most people commend its technology, comfort and cabin quality, it typically gets knocked for its ho-hum styling and bland drive. So what does Carwow have to say about it? Find out in this new video review.
In this new video, we take a look at the new Audi A8 quite comprehensively. So we get to look at the exterior, interior, technology, performance and handling.
From the outside, it’s hard to look at the A8 as anything other than a bit blah. Sure, its grille is the size of a doorway and its headlights are aggressive but that’s about it. The rest of it looks just like a big luxury car, especially from the side. It does have some slightly flared rear wheel arches but they aren’t noticeable enough to make it look anymore exciting.
Inside, though, there aren’t many complaints. Carwow’s Mat Watson even goes on to say that the new A8’s cabin is better than that of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the usual segment leader in interior luxury. The A8 packs a wealth of cabin technology, enough to shame the S-Class, and some of the best build quality in the industry. The back seat is especially impressive, with its optional touchscreens on the front seat backs and the tablet that pops out of the armrest to control the cabin.
As far as performance and handling go, the Audi A8 50 TDI (don’t ask why it’s called ’50’ and not ‘3.0’ because we don’t know) is a bit slow. However, it handles far better than one might expect such a big heavy sedan to. Its unflappable Quattro all-wheel drive grip allows you to push it harder into corners than you normally would and its trick active suspension is some of the coolest tech in the business.
We won’t spoil what Watson says about the Audi A8, so you can go and watch the video yourself but we will tell you that it’s an optimistic review. So check it out.
