VIDEO: Audi A6 Allroad gets reviewed by Savagegeese

One of the oft-forgotten cars in the Audi lineup, especially in America, is the A6 Allroad. Because it’s essentially an A6 Avant in waders, the A6 Allroad isn’t too popular here in the ‘States. However, it should be because it’s a surprisingly good overall vehicle. In this video review from Savagegeese, we get to see what makes the Audi A6 Allroad stand out from the sedan version, as well as Audi’s other SUVs.

The Audi A6 Allroad starts out life as an A6 Avant but it gets height-adjustable air suspension, a taller ride height as standard, some pseudo-rugged plastic body cladding and even some underbody protection. All of that allows the A6 Allroad to handle some slightly treacherous terrain, far more so than the sedan. While it’s not as off-road capable as an SUV, it’s more capable than most people will ever need.

In this video, we get to see its usefulness, by watching it traverse some rough, sandy terrain, and we get to learn about its suspension. Because its air suspension is height-adjustable, it can raise up high enough to traverse some rough stuff but also settle down to cruise on a highway. So there’s a ton of versatility built into the Allroad.

At the same time, it also has all of the practicality of an A6 Avant. So its trunk and back seat are capacious, allowing it to swallow up both people and luggage. Most SUV customers would find that the A6 Allroad has far more than enough practicality than they need, negating the need for an SUV.

Then when it’s time to have some on-road fun, the Audi A6 Allroad is still an A6 under the skin. Under the hood is a 3.0 liter turbocharged V6, making 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, which is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and Quattro all-wheel drive. According to Audi, the A6 Allroad can get from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds.

After seeing what the Audi A6 Allroad can do, it’s clear that it has more duality than most vehicles in Audi’s lineup. If only more US customers bought wagons, without needing to dress them up in off-roading cosplay.
