CNET does a quite a lot of video reviews of cars throughout the year, typically focusing on tech and value more than flat out driving dynamics. We’ve featured a number of CNET reviews on here before. The editors over there recently created a list of the top five cars they reviews this past year, in 2015. They weren’t necessarily 2015 models, but the best cars they drove and reviews in 2015. On the top five list, two Audis made the list.
Coming in at number four was the Audi A3 Cabriolet, which CNET deemed to be the best small convertible on the market. It’s quick enough, has typical Audi handling, looks great and has one of the best folding soft tops on the market. Their only complaints were with some of the interior tech and the small trunk, due to the convertible top. However, aside from those minor quibbles, CNET genuinely loved the A3 Cabrio.
The best-rated Audi was the TT Roadster, which came in at number two. According to CNET, the TT Roadster’s fantastic looks, great performance and awesome interior tech, such as Audi’s latest MMI system and Virtual Cockpit, make it the second best small convertible on the market and the second best car they tested last year. The previous-generation Audi TT was not up to par with many of the other ‘verts in the segment, but this new TT Roadster is quite excellent, earning its number two spot.
Oddly enough, the number one car is a also a convertible, the Mazda MX-5. It’s hard to beat the MX-5’s blend of fun and performance for its incredibly low price. That’s what put it over the edge and ahead of the TT Roadster.
