VIDEO: 802 hp Supercharged Audi R8 V10 Plus vs 750 hp Audi RS7

Two cars that have never been criticized for being slow are the Audi R8 V10 Plus and Audi RS7. Both of which are very, very fast cars. The former uses a naturally-aspirated 5.2 liter V10 engine with 610 hp. The former sports a twin-turbocharged 4.0 liter V8 with 570 hp. In terms of performance, the RS7 can hit 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds while the R8 has been clock as fast as 2.9 seconds. So both are powerful cars that are plenty quick. But what if you made them faster? Apparently some people have made these cars faster and they’re insane.

In this new video from AutoTopNL, we get a POV look at what it’s like to drive an 802 hp, supercharged Audi R8 V10 Plus and a 750 hp Audi RS7.

We get look at both cars’ speedometers first, with the RS7 above and the R8 below. The Audi R8 takes off quicker, which is expected considering its hp and weight advantage, but the RS7’s not far off. Both rocket to triple-digit speeds with ease, though. So easy, in fact, that it’s sort of scary. They also easily hit their original top speeds. In fact, the 260 km/h (161 mph) top speed of the RS7 gets eclipsed so much that the needle swings back around to zero.

After that, we check out the 802 hp Audi R8 on its own and it’s absurd. It fires so violently off the line that it almost looks tough to control. But once it gets moving, it’s a bullet-train. Not only is it rock-solid stable at speed, but it hits 324 km/h (200 mph) as if it were nothing. It’s crazy.

Next we see the 750 hp Audi RS7 on its own and it’s just as impressive. The RS7 isn’t a slinky, mid-engine supercar. It’s a front-engine, four-door luxury car that’s considerably heavier than the R8. So it’s not as easy to make incredibly fast. Except this one is. What’s remarkable is that it hits an indicated 325 km/h (201 mph), just a hint faster than the R8. It’s simply insane that cars as smooth, stable, luxurious and quiet as these can do those sorts of speeds. This is truly the golden age of the automobile.
