VIDEO: 2020 Audi S8 seen lapping the Nurburgring

The all-new 2020 Audi S8 is finally here and it’s shaping up to be a monster. Rather than going the six-cylinder diesel route, like the S6 and S7, the Audi S8 is keeping the V8 and it packs a serious wallop. Despite it finally making its debut, though, a new spy video has just been released, showing off a camouflaged S8 doing some hot laps at the Nurburgring.

We don’t really need to look at spy photos of the S8 anymore, as it’s already debuted. Considering we’ve already seen the real car, camouflaged versions aren’t interesting anymore. But what is interesting to see it in motion, on a challenging track, to see what it can do.

Out on the ‘Ring, it looks seriously fast. For such a big, heavy car, the Audi S8 moves well. It might not be a sharp, canyon carver but it’s no slouch, either. Its nose seems to tuck in well for such a big car with a monster engine over its front wheels. And once those tires grip, it’s go-time.

Powering the new Audi S8 is a 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 that makes 563 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Audi hasn’t quoted a 0-60 mph time but it’s going to be quick. We wouldn’t be surprised if it’s in the high three-second range. We also expect a more high-performance version in the future, with over 600 hp. We know Audi is capable of that sort of power and all of its major competitors have more than 600 horses in their stables. So it only makes sense for Audi to do the same.

It sounds good, too. While it’s always hard to hear engine/exhaust noise in these Nurburgring videos, because they’re just filled with tire and wind noise, we can hear the Audi S8 and its V8 rumble enough to know that we’re excited about it.

We can’t wait to drive the upcoming Audi S8 and this video isn’t helping the temptation.
