VIDEO: 2019 Audi A6 teased ahead of Geneva reveal

We’re all waiting patiently (or rather impatiently, actually) for the official reveal of the 2019 Audi A6. We’ve heard that Audi will be revealing the new A6 at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show next month, so it’s coming soon. Just ahead of that release, though, Audi has given us a brief teaser of the new A6 in this brand-new official video.

The video starts off with some dark glimpses of some of the car’s details, such as its door handles, front logo and rear “A6” emblem. Then you hear a voice ask “Do you hear that? The countdown has begun. The brand-new Audi A6”. It’s all very dramatic, with the lights fading in and out, only offering the briefest of glimpses of the car. The only real details we can make out are the headlights and the door handles. The former look very much like those found on the new Audi A7 and the latter look pulled from any modern Audi. So it’s really not that shocking.

Although, we’re not really too anxious about its exterior design. Audi’s “same sausage, different lengths” styling will continue, so the A6 will look like the Audi A8 but with some A7 styling cues, such as its headlights and maybe even a similar rear light bar. What we’re really anxious to see is what lies under the skin, what the interior is like and how much tech it has.

This current generation of A6 is a good car but it’s getting a bit long in the tooth. While it’s still good looking, comfortable and luxurious, its driving dynamics, technology and performance are all lacking compared to its more modern competitors. With the new BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class both being excellent cars that push the segment forward dramatically, Audi is going to have to seriously deliver the goods with this next A6.
