The all-new 2016 Audi A4 Sedan and A4 Avant have returned in a new walkaround video showing off the body design.
We can fully understand those who are criticizing Audi’s styling department for not making the new A4 distinctive enough, but at the end of the day there’s really nothing wrong with an evolutionary design and the new premium sedan and wagon from Ingolstadt are the perfect examples of improving an already very successful recipe.
Some might be tempted to say that nothing important has really changed with the new compact premium model, but in reality the new A4 is 25mm longer, 16mm wider and has a 12mm extended wheelbase. It’s also a lot more aerodynamic as the drag coefficient has been reduced to 0.23 in the case of the sedan and to 0.26 for the wagon.
Despite being substantially bigger than its predecessor, the new A4 has shaved off as much as 120 kg, so now the base 1.4 TFSI sedan weighs as little as 1,320 kg. If practicality is a top priority, go for the Avant which can store up to 505 liters of your stuff with the rear seats in place and 1,510 liters if you fold down the 40:20:40-split rear bench.
