Italian magazine Quattroruote has published several speculative renders depicting the 2016 Audi A4. These are perhaps the most accurate digital illustrations so far of the B9 generation which will premiere in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with sales to begin soon after that. As you can see, we should expect an evolutionary design with sharper edges and a more angular look while the interior cabin will be vastly modified compared to the outgoing A4 B8 model.
The 2016 Audi A4 will use the second generation MLB platform and is expected to shave off some serious weight thanks to a multi-material construction encompassing high-strength steels and aluminum. One of the engines which has already been confirmed to show up in the new compact model is a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter TFSI turbocharged gasoline unit producing 190 PS (140 kW) and a peak torque of 320 Nm (236 lb-ft). Audi says this is the most efficient 2.0-liter engine in its class and will enable the A4 consume less than 5 liters / 100 km.
Audi could decide to unveil online the new A4 in the second half of August, in anticipation to its public reveal at IAA. The A4 Avant should be introduced several months after the sedan and will be followed by the new A5 lineup.
