One of my favorite movies is Le Mans, though, probably by many critics considered to be one of the worst films ever made by Steve McQueen. However, if you enjoy racing then you’ll love the movie despite no actual dialogue for the first 30 minutes of the movie. But, however good or bad you may think Le Mans is, it stands as a near documentary of the most grueling sports car race on the face of the planet: The 24 Heures du Le Mans.
Well, Le Mans the movie is about be surpassed by an actual documentary of the 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans called Truth in 24.
Truth in 24 follows the Audi Works teams in the 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race against their most fierce opponents: Peugeot and their incredible 908HDi racer. From the trailers, it’s implied that the film will show the tremendous job that is preparing for Le Mans and the reality that it takes a lot of hard work and a lot of luck to keep your car reliable and ahead of the competition. I’ve included the trailer from documentary, but those of you interested in seeing the rest can expect to see the film on ESPN on March 20, 2009 – just one day before the flag drops on the 12 Hours of Sebring.
