There are a lot of incredible tuning projects by ABT Sportsline, one of the very best Audi tuners in the business. In fact, they make a tune for the Audi A1 that essentially makes it the S1 that Audi won’t make. However, this new Audi A1 one-off project is about ten notches higher on the crazy scale than what ABT usually creates and it’s awesome.
Designed as a one-off for Daniel Abt himself, this Audi A1 is absolutely incredible and we want one. Too bad we can’t have one, as it’s a one-of-one project car that isn’t being replicated. Still, it’s astonishing to look at.
On the outside, it gets a wide array of aerodynamic upgrades. It’s such a comprehensive aero-overhaul that it’s actually hard to tell that it’s an Audi A1 underneath. It gets floating fender blades that looks fantastic and are reminiscent of the MINI Cooper JCW GP Concept from awhile back. For those who aren’t familiar with the MINI, that’s a high compliment. It also gets a crazy front lip spoiler, canards, a rear diffuser and a massive rear wing to round out the look.
The body is split down the middle, with one color scheme for either have of the car. The right side of the Audi A1 is red, with black polygonal shapes throughout. The left side (driver’s side) is matte black with gloss black polygonal shapes. This color design extends throughout the entire car, wing and hood included. It’s awesome. The wheels also look great and the tires have red sidewall stripes.
Inside, this highly modified Audi A1 gets a full roll cage and tons of Alcantara. It’s stripped-out, lightweight and very cool looking. Probably not comfortable for long trips but certainly exciting.
Speaking of exciting, its engine was replaced with a 2.0 liter turbocharged TFSI engine that’s actually from a different car. ABT Sportsline swapped the engine because the standard Audi A1 40 TFSI is just too slow as-standard. So the ABT A1 gets a whopping 400 hp, almost double what the regular A1 tuned from ABT typically creates.
As for suspension, the Audi A1 has been given a set of H&R coilovers, lowering the overall ride height. It also has 19-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sports.
There’s a video from Daniel Abt about the construction and the build of this project and it’s pretty amazing. If you like cars in any capacity, check this video out to see what the tuning company has done.
