Let’s be real, the Audi RS Q8 is fast enough. If anything, it’s too fast. What customer is actually going to uncork all of its 4.0 liter twin-turbo V8’s 600 hp? Who is going to use its Nurburgring lap record-breaking handling ability on the road? And please, please show me the customer that’s going to take their two-ton SUV to the track? I’d reckon that one percent of the RS Q8’s customer base will use anywhere near all of its capabilities. At most. Yet, there’s still always room for more, right?
If you’re the folks at Manhart, there’s room for a lot more. Their Manhart RQ 900 is an Audi RS Q8 on steroids and quite possibly the least necessary, but somehow really desirable, vehicle on the road. To make an RQ 900, Manhart takes the standard RS Q8 and gives it new turbochargers, ECU tune, transmission upgrade, a new downpipe, new silencer and new exhaust system. All in, the RQ 900 makes a whopping 900 hp and an astonishing 796 lb-ft of torque.
It’s also been given a new suspension setup, bigger brakes, bigger wheels, an all-new body kit that makes it look far more ostentatious and some new interior bits. The black and gold exterior color scheme makes its way to the inside as well, along with some red stitching and piping in the seats.
How much does all of this cost? Well, with the Audi RS Q8 included, it costs about € 280,000.00 (around $303,000 in US money). That’s not exactly affordable, now is it? Though, that’s also a lot of power and torque. In fact, that level of power and torque is as much and Audi R8 V10 Performance and an Audi S3 combined. All in a car that’s already fast enough to brake the SUV lap record at the ‘Ring. Now let’s just hope it can handle.
