Recently, at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the Audi RS5 was unveiled. Along with it was the Audi RS5 DTM race car. Considering that Audi is no longer participating in the WEC (World Endurance Championship), DTM is one of the last racing series the four-ringed brand is participating in. So the RS5 DTM is a car we’re very excited about.
One of the best parts of the RS5 DTM is that it uses a 4.0 liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine, rather than the 2.9 liter twin-turbo V6 of the standard car. The free-breathing V8 makes 500 hp and sounds brilliant doing it. It’s also one of the coolest looking DTM cars on the track, with its aggressive looks borrowed from the RS5 road car. It’s also the first time Audi has developed a road car and DTM car side-by-side.
“For the first time, we developed a new DTM car in parallel with the production model. This underlines once again how closely motorsport and production work together at Audi.” said Audi’s Head of Audi Motorsport Dieter Gass.
