We’re super excited for the upcoming Audi RS Q3. It’s hard not to be. As a father, crossovers make my life a bit easier, thanks to the extra trunk space and larger back seat. Unfortunately, they’re just so dull to drive. Having said that, the RS Q3 would allow me to have my cake and eat it too.
In this new spy video, we get to see the Audi RS Q3 doing some more hot laps at the Nurburgring. Thanks to its 2.5 liter turbocharged five-cylinder, which will make around 400 hp, the RS Q3 is seriously quick and sounds great, too. It’s the sort of performance, noise and thrills that you don’t typically see in a small, family crossover.
We haven’t driven the standard Audi Q3 yet but we’ve heard good things. It looks good, has a great cabin and is said to drive better than the previous model. It’s also said to have good bones; its chassis is nimble and it feels competent through corners. It might not be the most engaging car to drive but it has the ability to be. So that’s what we’re hoping for with the Audi RS Q3, that it wakes up the potential in the Q3.
It certainly looks like it can. The Audi RS Q3 laps the ‘Ring quite quickly in this video, nailing apexes and looking fast and flat through corners. It might have a roomy back seat and a capacious cargo area but the RS Q3 is no ordinary family-hauler or grocery-getter. Instead, it’s a fire-spitting, Nurburgring-lapping compromise for the car enthusiast that wants the power and performance they love but needs added space and practicality for their family. For someone like me, that compromise is incredibly attractive, even if my heart doesn’t love the idea. Now I just need to afford one.
