SPIED: Next-Gen Audi Q3 caught testing

We’re so happy that Audi is finally making another Q3. Saying the current car (pictured above) is getting a bit long in the tooth is a massive understatement. It’s flat out ancient now and it feels it. Even a few years back, we drove one and it just felt so far behind the times. Now, though there’s a new Audi Q3 in the works and it looks promising in these new spy photos (we don’t own them but you can see them here).

The new Audi Q3 looks sort of like a shrunken Audi Q8, which is a good thing because it adds some visual excitement to the Q3, finally. Its massive Singleframe grille and angry headlights are very similar to those of the Q8 and its swollen rear wheel arches are also reminiscent of Audi’s flagship SUV. It even has a fat, raked C-pillar that looks similar to the Q8’s. So it seems as if Audi is bringing its styling from the top down, which is how it’s supposed to be. It sill has fake damn exhaust pipes, though, which is infuriating.

It’s far better looking than the current car, this new Q3. It’s muscular, sharp and exciting looking for such a small crossover. Then again, it needs to be. The competition in that segment is getting red-hot, with the delightful Volvo XC40 and the stylish BMW X2 stealing all of the thunder. So if the Audi Q3 wants to compete, it’s going to need to look damn good.

Under the skin, the Q3 is based on the same MQB platform as most small Audis. That means it will drive significantly better than the car it replaces. It will also likely get Audi’s suite of four-cylinder engines, both petrol and diesel.

We can’t wait to see the new Audi Q3, especially because we really aren’t fans of this current one. Hopefully, the new one car capture some magic that the first-gen simply couldn’t.

I've been in love with cars since I was a kid, specifically German cars. Now I get to drive them talk about them on the internet.
