In America, we don’t get the Audi A3 Sportback, unfortunately. So when we see spy photos of the forbidden hatchback version, us ‘Mericans don’t get a good look at what’s actually going to be for sale this side of the pond. Now, though, some new spy photos have surfaced, showing off the upcoming Audi A3 Sedan, the car we’re actually going to be able to buy. (We don’t own the spy photos but they can be seen here)
Despite wearing heavy camouflage, this new Audi A3 Sedan actually looks quite good. It looks longer and leaner than the current car, which is a bit stubby and short. That the lower, longer body combines with a slimmer Singleframe grille and more aggressive headlights to make it look sportier and more premium. Which is a welcome change, as the current A3 looks a bit less premium than some of its competitors. This new car seems to look better, though.
Its headlights and taillights aren’t anything we haven’t seen on the A3 Sportback in spy photos before. So we won’t rehash them. However, we do get to see some of the A3 Sedan’s interior. It seems to borrow the same sort of cabin as the Audi Q3, which isn’t surprising given they’re numeric siblings. But it is welcome, as the Q3 boasts one of the best interiors in its segment.
Gone is the tablet-style MMI screen stuck on top of the dash and, in its place, is a MMI Touch Response screen built into the dash. It’s similar to the screen on most other modern Audis and it looks more expensive and premium. Though, it seems as if it lacks the lower touchscreen of more expensive Audis, which is also similar to the Q3.
We’re very exited for the new Audi A3 Sedan now that we’re seeing it. It looks better than the current car and it still has camo on. It’s going to be more premium looking, it’s going to have a better interior and it’s likely going to boast superior dynamics and performance. The A3 Sportback will be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and the A3 Sedan shouldn’t be too much longer after that.
