SPIED: Lamborghini Aventador Performante looks insane

The new Lamborghini Huracan Performante has quickly become one of our favorite cars. Its combination of incredible speed, astonishing dynamic ability and its Nurburgring production car lap record make it one of the absolute coolest cars on the road and the best Lamborghini in a very long time. All thanks to its “Performante” treatment, as the standard Huracan is good but not great. Now, though, the folks in Sant’Agata are giving that same treatment to their most expensive car. Meet the Lamborghini Aventador Performante.

While still one of the fastest cars on the road, the Lamborghini Aventador is getting quite old now and it’s no longer competitive against newer supercars. Its single-clutch automated gearbox is slow and clunky, its steering and handling lack agility and its interior technology is behind the times. While Lamborghini can’t remedy every issue the Aventador has, as its entire platform is just too old, Performante treatment will make it a lot faster and more capable.

We’re curious to see what sort of upgrades the Lamborghini Aventador Performante gets. The Huracan Performante received a slight power bump, from 602 to 631, some lightweight treatment and what Lamborghini calls ALA (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva), which is a sort of active aerodynamic kit that makes it one of the most capable, dynamic and exciting supercars on the planet. Judging from these spy photos, it seems as if the Lamborghini Aventador Performante will also receive some new aerodynamics but that they will be much more extreme than the Huracan variant.

The side air intake scoops are large enough to suck up small deer, while the wing looks large enough to be bolted on the tail fin of a Boeing 777. It also sports a rear diffuser large enough that it looks like it could double as a farming tiller. So it looks seriously extreme. In terms of power, there are no official figures for the Aventador Performante yet but we’re very interested to see how much more power it gets. The Huracan Performante only gained a bit of power, as Performante treatment is more about handling, aerodynamics and on-track performance. Though, we’re hearing it could push almost 800 hp, up from the standard car’s 691 hp.

The Huracan Performante is one of the absolute most exciting cars in the world at the moment. Considering the Lamborghini Aventador Performante will have similar treatment along with its naturally-aspirated V12 engine means it could be even more exciting. Though, thanks to its extra size and weight, as well as its clunkier gearbox, we’re expected that the Huracan version will still be better.
