Some new spy photos have just surfaced, showing off the upcoming Audi A3 Sedan. Though, not exactly the one we’ll be getting here in the ‘States. Instead, it’s an Audi A3 L, the upcoming wheelbase model for the Chinese market. (We don’t own the spy photos but they can be seen here)
In China, there’s a large market for long-wheelbase versions of premium sedans, even small ones. While the idea of a long-wheelbase Audi A3 might seem a bit counter-intuitive in most parts of the world, Chinese customers really like such cars. That’s because back seat space is their main priority.
In these photos, we can see the Audi A3 L without any camouflage. So while it isn’t exactly the model we’ll be getting, it’s close enough to finally see what the A3 Sedan is going to look like.
Sadly, it’s not as good looking as the A3 Sportback. The lighting in these photos is admittedly bad and we don’t get great angles of it but it’s just not as handsome as the hatchback. It still does have the same concave and convex shapes in its flank and it’s still a good looking car but the long-roof version is for sure the better looking of the two.
That said, we’re just happy to see it. When the Audi A3 Sedan finally makes its way to the ‘States, it’s going to be a big hit. Not only will it bring sharp looks but also a fantastic cabin and better driving dynamics than before. While I’d love for us to get the full A3 Sportback line, we should be getting the A3 e-tron Sportback in America, which will be a plug-in hybrid. If possible, that’d be the one I got, just for the body style alone. Plus, get with the times, right?
