The Audi S8 is still a very new car, having only debuted at the 2019 LA Auto Show, and yet the brand is already working on its facelift. Designed to match its newly facelifted siblings, the Audi S8 facelift is already on its way and a test mule has been spotted in camouflage, doing some winter testing in the snow. (We don’t own the photos but you can see them here)
There aren’t many significant changes to the Audi S8 facelift that we haven’t already seen on the standard A8 facelift. It’s clear that Audi wants to make both cars look a bit sportier, being that they both seem to get new, more aggressive headlights. For S8-duty, though, the facelift brings a new grille insert and more aggressive front bumper, featuring bigger front air intakes.
We can also see some slightly new taillights on this S8 test mule. While the overall shape of the lights is similar, the lighting element inside them look a bit more modern.
Being an ‘S’ car, this Audi S8 facelift also gets aluminum-look side mirror covers and real quad exhaust tips. So it’s going to be a sportier looking car.
Under the hood, a 4.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 should make around 500 horsepower, just like the current car. It could feature a few extra ponies, to keep it fresh, but the current Audi S8 is an absolute monster. So it’s not going to need any extra power to keep up with its competitors. We haven’t even driven the current, pre-facelift car yet but we know that it’s faster that a two-ton luxury sedan should be.
If only customers knew just how good the new Audi S8 is, it would sell better than it currently does. Hopefully, the facelift’s new, snazzier looks can help drive some more sales.
