Audi seems to be killing it with its smaller cars lately. First it was the Audi Q3 that debuted and really blew us away with its interior and its technology for its segment. Then it was the Audi A1, which is far more upscale than a premium compact car should be. Now, the Audi S3 has been caught testing and it looks to be very impressive as well. Some new spy photos show off a camouflaged S3 doing some winter testing in the stunning, snowy Swedish landscape. (We don’t own the photos but you can see them here)
In these photos, we can see the new Audi S3 in five-door Sportback-guise doing some testing in the snow. We can tell it’s an S3, rather than a standard A3, by its soccer ball-style wheels and quad exhausts. The latter is far more of a dead giveaway than the former, though, as all Audi ‘S’ cars have quad exhausts. We still fear the standard A3 will have fake plastic jobs, though.
More importantly, though, we get a quick shot of the new Audi S3 interior. We don’t get a great look at the cabin, just on photo taken through the rolled-down passenger window from a far, but it’s enough to see that the S3’s interior is going to be nice. It features very angular shapes and a lot of different geometry, similar to those in the Q3 and A1. It also gets Audi’s new steering wheel and Touch Response MMI system. So it’s going to be high-tech and modern looking on the inside, for sure.
We don’t know what sort of power or performance the next-gen Audi S3 is going to have but it’s safe to assume that a turbocharged four-cylinder will power it. That turbo four-pot will likely make between 300-320 hp and will almost certainly be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox as its only option.
