Up until now, we haven’t seen any official photos or video of the upcoming Audi RS3 Sedan, only available for the US market. While all other markets get the superb Audi RS3 Sportback, the US gets the Sedan variant, only. That’s because us ‘Mericans seemingly hate any sort of vehicle with a hatch. But I digress. The upcoming RS3 Sedan was caught testing at the Nurburgring and there’s video to prove it.
Being designed to compete with the Mercedes-AMG CLA45 and newly released BMW M2, the Audi RS3 Sedan will pack a 2.5 liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine. The straight-five will produced nearly 400 hp, all of which will be sent through a seven-speed dual-clutch S-Tronic gearbox to all four wheels only. It will likely be faster than the Sportback model, but won’t be as cool looking.
In the video, we get to hear some of the 2.5 liter turbocharged engine noise, which is mostly good. Admittedly, all we really hear is tire noise, which is painfully apparent, being that it’s an all-wheel drive Audi. But expect it to sound very good, as Audi’s 2.5 liter engine is one of the best-sounding engines on the market and one of the best engines in the brand’s history.
