SPIED: Audi RS Q3 Seen Again on the ‘Ring with Minimal Camo

One of the upcoming cars we’re most excited about is the Audi RS Q3. With the new chassis of the second-gen Q3 and the same powertrain as the Audi RS3 and TT RS, the upcoming RS Q3 should be an absolute riot. Which is why we get very excited every time new spy photos surface, as they have today. (We don’t own the photos but they can be seen here)

In these new photos, we see a black Audi RS Q3 test mule wearing minimal camouflage doing some hot laps at the Nurburgring. To be honest, it doesn’t look much different than the standard Q3. Aside from its honeycomb-ish grille, larger front air intakes and large dual oval exhausts, it looks like regular Q3. Though, that’s sort of the Audi Sport theme these days and if you like that sort of subtle styling, you’re going to love the RS Q3.

Regardless of how subtle its looks are, it should be a properly hot SUV to drive. It will be packing the same 2.5 liter turbocharged inline five-cylinder engine as the RS3 and TT RS. That means 400 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque and a killer soundtrack. Pair that engine with a seven-speed dual-clutch auto and all-wheel drive and the Audi RS Q3 should be a little rocket of a crossover.

As we haven’t driven the new Q3 yet, we don’t know if the Audi Sport model will be a genuinely sporty car to drive. Though, it’s likely safe to assume that it will be a competent, comfortable and dynamic little crossover. Will it be a raw, sporty, road-raging monster? Likely not. However, it should be a fun, capable and practical everyday car. So for someone who needs speed and space to fit children, it could be the perfect everyday car. As a relatively new father, the idea of an RS Q3 as my daily and something small and sporty, like a Mazda MX-5, as my weekend toy is very appealing.
