SPIED: Audi RS Q3 caught testing in snow

Maybe it’s because today might be the first snowfall for us in New Jersey this year but these new spy photos of the Audi RS Q3 look like fun (we don’t own the photos but you can see them here).

Based on the new Audi Q3, the RS Q3 is going to be the hottest, most powerful, highest-performance model in the Q3 lineup. While we don’t have any official information on the upcoming Audi RS Q3, it’s probably not hard to guess what sort of specs it will have. Like most other RS cars based on the MQB platform, it will likely get a version of Audi’s 2.5 liter turbocharged I5 engine making around 400 hp, maybe a bit more. That engine will likely be paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and power all four wheels.

In these photos, we can see that this is clearly an Audi RS Q3 and not a standard Q3, or even the slightly sporty SQ3. Most of the car is pretty similar to the regular Q3, except it sports a lower ride height and bigger wheels, suggesting something sporty. What really gives it away as an Audi RS Q3 are its exhaust pipes. Rather than the fake plastic jobs you get on the standard car, this RS Q3 is packing massive dual oval exhausts, a signature Audi Sport design.

This particular car is on winter tires, doing some snow testing, which isn’t unusual. Car companies test performance cars in snow all the time. While common, it looks like a ton of fun. Imagine a 400 hp, all-wheel drive RS Q3 on some fresh powder? Especially one with a 2.5 liter turbocharged five-cylinder soundtrack? That sounds way better than a cup of hot chocolate and a Christmas movie if you ask me. Maybe that should become the new winter pastime.
