We recently saw an Audi Q8 test mule wearing almost no camouflage, giving us a great look at the styling of Audi’s newest SUV. Now, some more spy photos have surfaced of the Q8, this time driving through some city traffic in the rain, wearing very heavy camouflage. (We don’t own the spy photos but they can be seen here) Still, we can make out most of its design and it’s going to look sharp.
With its aggressively raked roof and low, sleek design, the Audi Q8 will very seriously challenge its competitors from BMW and Mercedes-Benz, the X6 and GLE-Class Coupe, respectively. It also looks like it will be Audi’s best looking SUV. Its massive grille and angular headlights are on display in these photos, giving the Q8 a handsome, sporty face. In profile, it has a sporty stance and massive wheels, immediately making it look like the most aggressive SUV in Audi’s lineup. The Q8’s OLED taillights are also quite stunning, allowing the car to have a bit of a light display when you unlock or lock the car.
The signature design elements, though, are those that actually harken back to a classic Audi. The Audi Q8’s flared, boxy wheel arches and fat C-pillar are both designed to remind us of the original Audi Quattro, the car that really started it all for the brand. While it’s obviously much bigger than the original Quattro, there is still some DNA of the latter car built into this new Q8. Especially if Audi makes an RS Q8, which is something that’s been rumored already.
We think this is going to be a very sharp looking SUV. It’s going to be sporty, elegant, luxurious and stylish. It’s almost a given that the upcoming Q8 will make its way into many, many driveways in the future.
