SPIED: Audi Q3 Sportback caught testing in some snow

Audi Q3

We just recently learned of the Audi Q4 e-tron and the e-tron Sportback models, two crossovers with sporty styling. Get used to such things, though, as there’s a new one on the horizon and it’s just been caught doing some winter testing in the snow — the upcoming Audi Q3 Sportback. (We don’t own the spy photos but they can be seen here)

Despite its similar shape to the e-tron Sportback, the upcoming Audi Q3 Sportback is not going to be electrified. Instead, it’s going to be a coupe-like version of the new Q3 SUV and it’s easy to see that from the spy photos. It wears almost the exact same face as the regular Audi Q3 and looks basically identical from the B-pillar forward.

Move backward from the B-pillar and things change, though. The roofline tapers off toward the rear of the car, giving it a sleeker, sportier look. Though, it’s not as extreme as, say, a BMW X2. The subtle roof spoiler and rake of the rear window make it look sporty and edgy, without looking frumpy.

Out back, it gets similar taillights to the standard Q3 and, unfortunately, fake exhaust tips. So it’s essentially just an Audi Q3 with a more tapered roofline.

That’s no bad thing, though. The new Q3 is a good looking, nice driving and very well-equipped SUV. Adding some sportier looks will only add some appeal to the model. Plus, it will get the same great interior, the same awesome technology and the same fun driving dynamics as the standard car. It might not be as sporty as something like the aforementioned X2 but it should look better and will certainly have a better interior and, likely, a more comfortable ride.

No word on whether or not this will make its way to the US market when it finally debuts but we expect it to, only because of America’s penchant for buying such SUVs. For better or worse.
